We are excited to host an event during one of the most beautiful times of the year, in the charming harbor town of Port Jefferson on Long Island!
Looking to practice your French verbal skills with others? Immerse yourself in a weekend of language, culture, and connection.
This immersive workshop, designed for intermediate-level (A2+/B1) French learners, will take place at the elegant and inviting Danfords Hotel & Marina – a waterfront gem nestled right on the harbor. With its cozy rooms, stunning views, and relaxing ambiance, it’s the perfect setting to combine learning with a beautiful fall getaway.
This workshop will last a total of 2 full days and will be filled with fun and stimulating French learning group exercises. Every activity is carefully planned with a clear structure and a learning objective.The main goal is to give you the opportunity to practice your French verbal and comprehension skills.
This exciting French immersion course is created and hosted by one of the founders and teachers of the French learning school: Learn French at Home: Céline (another 1 or 2 French teachers will be joining as well).
In a nutshell:
🗣️ Deepen your French fluency through engaging activities organized in small groups. Learn new vocabulary, expressions and get some clarification on French grammar in context. Practice and improve your French verbal expression and comprehension skills during 2 full days.
🍷 Savor tasty meals and continue to speak French during lunch and dinner.
🍁 Marvel at the autumn colors as the town bursts into shades of gold and crimson. It is the most beautiful time of the year !
🌊 Unwind between sessions with harbor walks and the crisp sea breeze.

Who is this event for ?
This French Immersion Retreat is for Intermediate (low and medium) French level students. At this level, you already have learned the basic tenses such as imparfait et passé composé, the future tenses. You know how to ask and answer questions on personal details, make requests, and hold basic conversations on familiar topics.

What are you going to learn?
Some of these learning points will be covered during the 2 days:
-Question making in the present and the past tenses.
-Review/learn how to use the preposition of times.
-Vocabulary to describe scenes, people and feelings.
-The right verbs and tenses to use when giving suggestions, directions and polite requests.
-Expressing what you like and don’t like.
-An activity on the everyday casual language used today in France combined.
-Discussions on French culture.

What to expect from our workshops
The French Immersion Workshop will take place in the beautiful city center of Port Jefferson, NY.
The details of the workshop will be sent to the participants a month before the event, but you can expect the following:
-Classes will take place in the Danfords hotel. You will engage in hours of language building skills in the classroom every day.
The activities will include comprehension and verbal expression work, grammar points, everyday life and idiomatic expressions, all put into context through projects, games and exercises in mini groups.
During the 2-day immersion workshop, you can expect cultural activities with language learning objectives.
-Lunchs will take place either the hotel
-Dinner is optional, depending on if you wish to continue to socialise in French during the evenings.

This is just to give you an overall idea. The October 2025 workshop will have different activities.

Payment conditions:
2-day workshop payment schedule:
You can either pay in full when booking or make a deposit of $450 at registration. The remaining payment will be due end of August 2025. An invoice will be sent to you at that time.
Cancellation policy:
2-day workshop: the deposit is 100% fully refundable before September 1st, 2025. After that date, the deposit is non refundable.
After September 10th, 2025, the full workshop price is not refundable, but it can be transferred to another person.
