Starting at 7 years old, kids have the opportunity to follow a French learning course to prepare them to pass the DELF PRIM exam.  The DELF diploma is  a Diploma of French Language Studies issued by the French Ministry of Education and recognized worldwide (in every school).

Our French language school has been established on the net since 2004. We have become experts in teaching French and in preparing students to pass the DELF exams. We understand the importance of creating stimulating lessons to keep the teenager motivated in learning. The one-on-one French classes for teens are personalized to their French level and learning pace. 

They will be able to express themselves to a French native teacher who is patient, kind, understanding and encouraging. This approach helps them gain great confidence in speaking the language. Many school French teachers, in non French speaking countries, are not French natives. With our school, they will learn the real spoken and written French as if they were in France.

Taking the French lessons via Zoom are never boring because the interactions are lively and stimulated by different online activities. The French language tutor will focus on the areas the student needs in order to gain confidence and be ready to pass the DELF exam or the CNED.

Length of the lessons

For kids from 7 years old to 12 years old

40-minute lessons on Zoom or Skype with an experienced French tutor. The lessons are followed with homework (optional if parents prefer no homework). We offer 40-minute lessons in our KIDS General, PRIM and CNED courses.

Note: there is flexibility for the length of the class.  For example, if your child is 7 years old but has studied some French for a while, then we can consider a 40-minute lesson. This will be discussed during the first meeting with the Language Advisor.

How does a French lesson works?

The teacher will prepare the lesson according to the exam preparation goals, whether either the DELF PRIM or the CNED.  The student will work on the 4 phases of the language: listening, reading, writing, and verbal expression. Grammar will be taught whenever it’s necessary. Sample exam exercises will be carried out to help them gain confidence in passing it. The French tutors use the latest official methods to prepare for the exam, with each situation adapted to the child’s age. Every class is done in a friendly environment where the teacher continuously encourages the student positively.

After the lesson, the teacher will send the notes of the lesson in addition to the homework to the parent and/or student.

1) DELF Prim:

The DELF Prim is an official Diploma of French Language Studies issued by the French Ministry of Education and is recognized worldwide. It allows validating and certifying for French language abilities. Therefore, this diploma allows your child to valorize his ability in French. The DELF Prim is perfectly fit for children between 7 and 11 years old in primary school.

The DELF Prim is divided into 3 levels: A1.1, A1 and A2, corresponding to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Level A1.1 is the most accessible one and A2 the most advanced. Later your child will be able to continue with the DELF Junior B1 and the DELF B2 Junior.

2) CNED lessons:

Does your child already speak French and has been in the French education public system? Do you need your child to continue to learn and follow the formal program? The CNED (“Centre National d’Etude à Distance – National center of distant studies) is particularly well known among expatriates, for the courses it provides to many young French people abroad.

For the CNED lessons, we have chosen to work with Bordas editions who are specialized in school textbooks, from kindergarten to high school (including primary and middle school). They provide teachers and parents with the indispensable tools to accompany the students in their learning. For example, we work with the Alouette collection, for grades from CE1 to CM2 (primary school). The advantage of these methods is that they are available in paper version but also in digital version, which is very well suited for distance learning.

Imogen my daughter (20yrs old) has been having Skype French lessons with Learn French at Home since May 2009 ( when she was 12) ! She started them in middle school as she was struggling with French ( a compulsory IB component). The Skype lessons allowed her to gain the confidence to learn the vocabulary and also speak French in a non threatening environment. Having Skype lessons meant Imogen was able to have the classes at home, which are significantly more flexible than face to face classes.
